- ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Boston Marathon runner Laura Wellington was about a half-mile from the finish line when two explosions went off near where she was to meet up with family. Channel-2 News reports that police diverted her from the finish. Wellington walked instead along Massachusetts Ave., trying to reach her family on her cellphone. She got in touch with her boyfriend who told her everyone was OK. It was then that a couple walked by. The woman asked her if she was OK and had located her family. Wellington assured the couple they were OK and she would be. Sitka resident Brent Cunningham then asked Wellington if she had finished the race and she indicated no. He placed his medal around her neck. Wellington posted Cunningham's good deed on Facebook. It's gone viral.
