- FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - Alaska State Troopers say the driver of a car has been killed in an accident on the Parks Highway. The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports that the accident caused the highway to be temporarily closed Wednesday afternoon at 345 Mile near the George Parks memorial turnoff. State Troopers spokeswoman Megan Peters says the driver lost control of the car while rounding a turn and drove into oncoming traffic, and the car collided with a semi. The driver of the truck was not injured.
