- ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Anchorage police have identified a man shot and killed by police after a chase on Tuesday. Police say the man was 25-year-old Carl Bowie III, and that he had rammed at least one patrol car with a stolen pickup. Bowie was shot by police in a Lake Otis neighborhood after spike strips failed to stop him. Anchorage Police Chief Mark Mew says two officers fired at Bowie and killed him. A female passenger in the truck was not injured. Police say an earlier report that Bowie had escaped from a halfway house was incorrect. The Department of Corrections says he was on parole and not complying with court-ordered supervision.
