- JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Alaska Supreme Court Chief Justice Dana Fabe is set to deliver the "State of the Judiciary" to a joint session of the Legislature. The chief justice has traditionally addressed both chambers of the Legislature on an annual basis since 1972. Wednesday will be Fabe's seventh "State of the Judiciary" address. Fabe was the first woman to serve on Alaska's highest court, and U.S. Sen. Mark Begich lobbied for President Barack Obama to nominate her as a U.S. Supreme Court Justice in 2009. She dissented from the majority opinion in one of last year's highest-profile Alaska Supreme Court decision, that, ordering the state's redistricting plan be redrawn for the 2014 elections.
