Memorial set for soldier found dead on Christmas

- JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska (AP) - A memorial service has been planned for a soldier found dead from a shotgun wound in another soldier's barracks room. U.S. Army Alaska says the service will be Tuesday at the Soldier's Chapel at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage for 25-year-old Pfc. Grant W. Wise from Fairport, N.Y.. He was found dead of a gunshot wound in another soldier's room on Christmas morning. Army spokesman Lt. Col. William Coppernoll says the investigation into Wise's death continues. Wise joined the Army in October 2011 and attended basic training at Fort Benning, Ga. He served at Fort Bragg, N.C. before being assigned as an infantryman with the 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne) at JBER in September.
