Alaska Democratic Party slams Holmes for switch

- ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - The Alaska Democratic Party is slamming state Rep. Lindsey Holmes for switching her party affiliation to Republican.  Democratic Party chair-elect Mike Wenstrup says Holmes deceived voters of her west Anchorage district. Holmes was re-elected as a Democrat in November. Holmes announced Saturday that she changed her party registration and is joining the state House Majority Caucus. With her addition, the caucus now has 30 members.  Holmes, first elected in 2006, says in some ways the change was six years in the making. She says she has worked with majority members during that time and found herself aligned with many of their goals. House Speaker Mike Chenault says Holmes will have a seat on the House Finance Committee. The new legislative session starts Tuesday.
