Tribal recall election in Dot Lake

Jul 01, 2012 -- 3:43pm

- FAIRBANKS, Alaska - Voters in a small village southeast of Fairbanks have recalled five Tribal Council members. The recall effort in Dot Lake, population 55, was been led by Clyde Charles - the nephew of Tribal President Bill Miller, who was ousted in the election. Charles contends Miller and his son misspent tribal money, used tribal vehicles for personal business and were guilty of unfair hiring practices. Miller denied the allegations. The newly chosen council includes three people related to Miller and Charles.
