Fairbanks burn victim dies

- FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - A 59-year-old man who was seriously burned while sleeping inside the downtown Fairbanks post office on New Year's Day has died. A Fairbanks fire official says John Druck Wallis died Saturday at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner says Wallis apparently had been sleeping in a post office hallway when he caught fire. He was found burning in the lobby of the Tuesday evening by someone checking their mail. The person who found him and others worked to put the fire out before firefighters arrived a few minutes later. Police say they are investigating the death as suspicious and the fire department is investigating the cause of the fire.
