- FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - The University of Alaska Fairbanks police chief says a former worker on campus was found dead in a library study room in an apparent suicide. The man has been identified as 63-year-old Tschon Ombadykow. UAF Police Chief Sean McGee says Ombadykow was a former worker at the UAF campus facilities division. McGee says students in a nearby study room heard a sound shortly before noon Saturday, but did not recognize it as a gunshot. Police were notified about 1 p.m. after someone else went into the dark study room and found Ombadykow, who appeared to be sleeping. Police say Ombadykow had a self-inflicted gun wound. McGee says the gun was found at the site and there was no sign of foul play. Ombadykow was pronounced dead at the scene.
