- SITKA, Alaska (AP) - State Rep. Bill Thomas has requested a recount of this year's election results that saw him losing by 34 votes to Democrat Jonathan Kreiss-Tomkins of Sitka. Division of Elections Director Gale Fenumiai says in an email to The Associated Press that she received the application Wednesday and approved the recount. The recount will begin at 9 a.m. Monday in Juneau. Fenumiai on Friday certified Kreiss-Tomkins as the winner of House District 34. The tally was 4,125 votes for Kreiss-Tomkins and 4,091 for Thomas. She tells the Sitka Sentinel it's been her experience that the count may change by up to three or four votes but not double digits.
