- ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Five fishermen have been rescued after their boat began taking on water after hitting a rock. The Coast Guard in a release says the five were delivered to Kodiak by a helicopter after being picked up about 2 a.m. Thursday. There were reportedly no injuries. The men donned survival suits and got in a life raft when the 58-foot Kodiak Isle began taking on water. The raft drifted and beached at Sitkinak Island, about 25 miles south of Kodiak Island, where they were rescued. The boat was still afloat when the helicopter left the area at 2:30 a.m. The Coast Guard plans to check for any pollution. The Kodiak Isle had about 1,000 gallons of diesel fuel on board. The incident is under investigation.
