- BETHEL, Alaska (AP) - Bethel fire authorities are investigating a fire that damaged a classroom at a local school. KYUK says fire crews responded to the fire Wednesday at the Bethel ME school, which houses preschool age through second grade. Bethel fire Captain Bill Howell says smoke damaged a detached second-grade classroom. Everyone was accounted for after the fire, and one person was taken to the hospital to be checked for smoke inhalation. Officials say the students were evacuated from all of the detached classrooms. School principal Joshua Gill says the building is likely a loss. The cost of the blaze is under investigation.
