- FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - Unanimous support against moving an Air Force squadron from Fairbanks to Anchorage was expressed at a public hearing Wednesday night. The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports dozens of people testified against the relocation of the F-16 Aggressor Squadron from Eielson Air Force Base to Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. Among those speaking out against the move at the Fairbanks meeting were U.S. Sens. Mark Begich and Lisa Murkowski and Gov. Sean Parnell. The Air Force will conduct another hearing on the proposed move Thursday in North Pole. The public comments will be evaluated and contained in the final draft, which should be ready by the end of the year.
